The Eastern Guruma people have identified the following key focus areas for the Corporation – Protecting and Teaching our Heritage, Creating Opportunities and Capability for Our People, Improving Community Wellbeing.


Good governance and administration is critical to the organisation. The Directors of the Corporation adopt a community first attitude and strive to always be accountable to its members.

The Eastern Guruma People hold native title rights over around 6,500 sq km of land in the eastern Pilbara region of Western Australia. On this land are many highly significant Aboriginal heritage areas. 

Wintawari Guruma Aboriginal Corporation is the official company of the Eastern Guruma People which handles their native title rights. Wintawari Guruma Aboriginal Corporation is a viable, active, autonomous Aboriginal corporation. Wintawari Guruma Aboriginal Corporation protects the heritage of the Eastern Guruma People’s land, and preserves country for the benefit of all Eastern Guruma People. 

Wintawari Guruma Aboriginal Corporation is not associated in any way whatsoever with the company calling itself “Eastern Guruma Pty Ltd”. Wintawari Guruma Aboriginal Corporation does not approve of the activities of the company calling itself “Eastern Guruma Pty Ltd”. Further the “Eastern Guruma Pty Ltd” company is using that name against the wishes of the vast majority of Eastern Guruma people.
